New Delhi: Nokia's Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 phones will soon get the mobile hotspot functionality, which they currently lack.
If you take a close look at tech specs of these phones, you will find that these phones lack the tethering support, which means sharing the Internet connection of an Internet-capable mobile phone with other devices. And in the case of tethering over wireless LAN, the feature may be branded as a mobile hotspot.
In a Q&A recently posted by the Finnish giant on its Connects blog, the company has stated that software updates will be "coming soon" - by way of Zune update. "It will be in coming soon for 800 and 710 via Zune update, for 610 and 900 it will be available at launch," said the company in an answer.
Besides the software updates for the Lumia 710 and 800, the company will ship its flagship Lumia 900 and the recently announced Lumia 610 with the Internet sharing feature (Wi-Fi tethering). In other words, the phones will support internet sharing when they launch later this year.
But it is difficult to say that when exactly the company plans to announce the update.
