CHENNAI: Located at the upmarket MRC Nagar, Burgundy's offers a visual delight, as you enter the pathway leading to the scenic restaurant. Filled with little fountains, the lawn gives one an idea of the perfect ambience that awaits inside the dining area. The place is bound to strike a chord with not just young couples but also those romantic at heart. The play area adjacent to the seating area keeps kids busy. The sliding glass doors are temptingly inviting, urging one to walk into the restaurant. As you enter the spacious 160-seater dining hall, you are welcomed by a soothing environment, with the dim lights going easy on your eyes. The slow music in the background is another highlight, that can only make your dining experience that much more better. Launched about three months ago, Burgundy's is a perfect gateway to savour a beautiful evening. As Managing Director Vipin Sachdev puts it, “People look for value for money. The restaurant should be able to provide a wholesome experience to the customers. We provide the right ambience, food and service and make sure our customers go home satisfied.”That's a fact that we can vouch for. According to the policy of no service charges are levied on your bill. “Our staff should be able to earn tips. Why should a customer pay if he doesn't like the service?” Vipin questions. With years of experience in the hospitality industry and running all the Subway outlets in Chennai, the Tuscana Pizzerias and Kryptos, Vipin knows a thing or two about making his customers a satisfied lot. “There were more than a 1,000 visitors during Burgundy's launch in August, all thanks to the goodwill we have generated through our other restaurants,” he admits. “The response has been good for Burgundy's. We have noticed people spending hours here for business meetings,” he says, pointing to a group of white-collared persons who walked, seemingly satisfied. Being an all-day dining restaurant, Burgundy's offers quite a punch in its menu. From South Indian dishes for breakfast to Indian, Italian and seafood for lunch and dinner, there's something for everybody. It also serves an elaborate brunch on Sundays. “We take special care in preparing vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes separately. Our staff is particularly trained in this aspect,” he informs. Vipin takes special care in maintaining the hygiene, as he has a reputation to protect. He was recently given the Miele Guide 2011 Award for the best Asian restaurant. He also makes sure that he personally answers most of the guest feedback on the restaurant's Facebook page and on the Burrp.com page. With so much exposure, experience and goodwill, the food offered at Burgundy's, as a rule, turns out to be fantastic. The food is served on a buffet basis. But unlike the usual, the food is kept in small portions and is replenished with freshly cooked food once it gets over. “This is done to ensure that people get hot and freshly cooked food every time, and not two-to-three hour old food,” Vipin reasons. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are kept separately in two different chambers. The cauliflower and okra dishes were ample in flavour. One can savour the vegetables alone, as they give a good aftertaste. The non-vegetarian dishes are marked out with pork and beef, written in large letters, for those conscious people who don't prefer any particular kind of meat for various reasons. Rice, dal, chapati, roti...all are available. To savour with it are a number of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Desserts too are aplenty, with international ones kept in specially cooled counter tops. There are several flavours of ice creams, and each has its own charm and taste. All in all, a lovely experience. Great food, service and ambience. For details, call 49001000.
