Action against dumping of waste

KOCHI: District Collector P I Sheikh Pareeth has said at a meeting here thatimmediate action will be taken against those who are caught dumping waste inside the compound of Kinfra Park. Those who dump garbage will be asked to pay the fine, which would be inturn used to treat the dumped garbage.“A case, filed on this issue, is being investigated,” the collector said. The complaint is that about three loads of waste materials were dumped in the compound of Kinfra .As the case is on, Kinfra will treat the dumped waste for the time being. The Pollution Control Board will assist the company in treating the waste. If the fine is not paid, strict measures, including revenue recovery, will be initiated. The issue regarding the acquisition of land to construct a road to enter the Sea Port roadfrom Kinfra park was also settled. The owners of the land, which was acquiredfor the purpose will begiven plots near the NAD and also a financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh.
