Bindra won his first medal since winning gold at the Beijing Olympics.
New Delhi: Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra has won gold in the 10-metre air rifle at the InterShoot competition in The Netherlands.
Bindra won his first medal since winning gold at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
In the absence of some big names, he shot 596 out of 600 to equal his Olympic qualification score. He then, shot 104.1 in the final to win the title with an overall score better than even his Beijing aggregate.
The win also backs up his claim that shooting in international competitions is the true measure of form.
He has now shot 596 thrice in the last two months and those scores will be considered for selection for the Indian team.
Bindra is now gearing up to defend his World Championship crown in Munich in August.
