Rourkela: Inspired by child marathon prodigy Buddhia Singh, a nine-year-old tribal girl has covered a distance of 60 km in 5.45 hours in Orissa's Sundergarh district.
The girl, Anasthesia, from a remote Ridihi village under Kutra police station ran a distance from Panchara village to Rambahal village on Saturday.
The event, which was organised by Rajgangpur legislator Grigori Minz, was witnessed by many athletes and hundreds of people.
Minz, a former state hockey captain, said, "Anasthesia is a good prospect. She needs good training and diet to enhance her talent."
Anasthesia said, "I will run a distance of 110 km from Sundergarh to Rourkela on the coming Indpendence Day."
On May 2, five-year-old Buddhia Singh ran 65 km from Puri to Bhubaneswar in 7.02 hours which earned him a place in the Limca Book of Records.
Sundergarh is famous for producing hockey players including captains of both national men and women hockey teams, Dilip Tirkey, Jyoti Sunita Kulu, Prabodh Tirkey and Ignace Tirkey.
