New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday told the Supreme Court that former telecom minister A Raja didn't favour Tata Teleservices in the controversial 2G spectrum allocation.
The central investigation agency further told the apex court that Tata Group was a loser in the 2G spectrum allocation because of Raja's conspiracy with other co-accused.
The CBI also refuted the allegations that Tata Group gifted land to DMK family for favours in spectrum allocation.
While clearing the Voltas land deal, the CBI also said that the letter written by Ratan Tata to DMK chief M Karunanidhi was a general letter.
Earlier, during his trial in the 2G case in August, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa accused the Tatas of paying former telecom minister and 2G scam-accused A Raja Rs 20 crore in the name of charity.
According to Balwa, Tatas made the donation of Rs 20 crore to Raja in the name of charity to a medical college-cum-hospital in Perambalur and acknowledged it was done on a special case.
Raja's personal secretary RK Chandolia had also accused the CBI of selective inaction and claimed that the Tatas and Neera Radia are equal conspirators in the 2G scam and the CBI of deliberately let them off.
Earlier Raja had alleged that Tatas had gained Rs 14,000 crore by selling equity to Docomo.
Behura had also alleged that the CBI has not charged the DoT offcial who lost the Tatas application file and wrongly accused of conspiring against Tatas.
Chandolia said that the CBI does not have the guts to go after Nira Radia and Tatas, the real conspirators.
