Kabul: A total of 27 militants on Thursday laid down arms in Afghanistan's Baghlan province.
"With these people joining the peace process, security will further improve in Baghlan," Xinhua quoted provincial police chief Aminullah Omarkhil as saying.
Omarkhil said the former militants, who laid down their arms at Pul-e-Khumri, capital of Baghlan province, were active in Banu district over the past couple of years.
This is the second militant group which has laid down arms in the province over the past month.
Earlier, 115 militants who were active in Pul Hisar district of the province, gave up fighting and handed over their weapons to authorities.
