New Delhi: Railway Police Inspector Shashank Chandrasen Shinde who died fighting terrorists at CST during the Mumbai terror attack was among eight Security personnel awarded the Kirti Chakra, the second highest peace-time gallantry medal on Thursday.
Shinde, who was conferred the medal posthumously for conspicuous gallantry, was at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station in Mumbai on November 26 when 10 heavily armed terrorists launched simultaneous attacks at various iconic places in the metropolis.
He was engaged in an encounter with one of the terrorists at the CST and was hit by a volley of bullets during the gun battle.
However, the medal came only after his widow Manasi Shinde protested for not getting recognition for her husband’s courageous act. But now his wife Mansi Shinde is demanding answers for excluding her husband from the prestigious Ashok Chakra list.
Shashank Shinde's daughter, Aditi Shinde told CNN-IBN that her father deserved to get a title like Ashok Chakra.
