How to Make Berry Smoothies
With all the different kinds of berries available, there are endless varieties of berry smoothies you are able to create at home. Try making smoothies with just one kind of berry, a mix of berries, or add berries in with other fruits to experiment. Soon enough, you’ll be making a new type of berry smoothie every day of the week!
Ingredients

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Cut up fresh strawberries and a frozen banana. Cut the strawberries into halves until you have 2 c (300 g) worth. Cut a frozen banana into small circles. Don’t use all frozen fruit or your smoothie will end up with a really thick texture. Use a mix of frozen and fresh fruit for the best results! Using a frozen banana helps keep the drink cold, without the added water that you would get if you add ice.

Put all of the fruit, greek yogurt, and milk in a blender. Add ⁄2 c (120 mL) of greek yogurt and ⁄2 c (120 mL) of milk after you put in the berries and banana. If you are allergic to dairy or lactose intolerant, you can use a dairy-free milk like coconut milk or almond milk.

Blend all of the ingredients together until they liquify into a smooth texture. Hold the lid on the blender and turn it on to medium speed, or use the pulse setting if it has one to blend in short bursts. Take the lid off and stir the smoothie to see if there are any chunks in it. Make sure the lid is on tight and don’t use the highest speed to avoid splattering your smoothie all over the kitchen!

Serve the smoothie in a cold glass. Put a glass in the freezer for 5 minutes to get it cold before you serve the smoothie. Don’t add ice or the smoothie will become watery. You can garnish the smoothie with a slice of fresh banana and a strawberry.

Mixed Berry Smoothie

Put berry mix, milk, and greek yogurt in a blender. Use 1 c (100 g) of blueberries, 1 c (150 g) of halved strawberries, 1/2 c (75 g) of blackberries, and 1/2 c (65 g) of raspberries. Add 1 c (240 mL) of greek yogurt and 1 ⁄2 c (350 mL) of milk. You can make the berry mix ahead of time and store it in the freezer in individual sealable plastic bags. This way you have a perfect smoothie mix ready to go whenever. You just have to add the milk and yogurt! You can easily add in or substitute different kinds of berries that you have available to experiment.

Blend the berries, yogurt, and milk together until the mix becomes smooth. Secure the lid of the blender and turn it on to medium speed. Stop blending when it looks like it has reached an even consistency. Fresh berries will liquify very quickly. If you use frozen berries, you may need to blend slightly longer.

Serve the smoothie in two cold glasses. Keep 2 glasses in the freezer for 5 minutes while you make the smoothie. Take them out and pour in the smoothie directly from the blender. Don’t add ice unless you want a watery smoothie! You can add in a bit of honey for a healthy sweetener.

Raspberry Smoothie

Add raspberries, milk, raspberry yogurt, and apple juice to a blender. Put 1 c (125 g) of fresh or frozen raspberries in a blender. Add in 1 c (240 mL) of milk, ⁄2 c (120 mL) of raspberry yogurt, and ⁄2 c (120 mL) of apple juice. Use a dairy-free milk and an extra 1/2 c (65 g) of raspberries if you have allergies to dairy or are lactose intolerant.

Put the lid on the blender and turn it on to medium speed. Make sure the lid is on tight and hold it with one hand. Blend the ingredients until there are no chunks left. Frozen raspberries will take a little longer to blend than fresh ones.

Serve the smoothie in a chilled glass and enjoy. Leave a glass in the freezer for 5 minutes while you prepare the smoothie to chill it. Serve the smoothie in the glass and garnish it with a couple of raspberries or a slice of apple. You can substitute any other berries for the raspberries, and a different type of yogurt, to create many varieties of berry smoothies.
