Swiss Court Rejects Claim Against FIFA Over Qatar World Cup

Zurich: A Swiss court has rejected a claim by Dutch and Bangladeshi trade unions accusing FIFA of wrongful conduct and liability for alleged human rights violations in connection with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the global soccer body said on Friday.

The suit, filed in Zurich, had called on FIFA to force Qatar to adopt "minimum labour standards" for migrant workers preparing for the tournament.Also Read: FIFA Sued Over Treatment of Qatar World Cup Workers

"FIFA monitors the situation very closely and, as recently stated by President (Gianni) Infantino, will continue to urge the Qatari authorities to ensure safe and decent working conditions for construction workers," Zurich-based FIFA said in a statement on the ruling by the Commercial Court of Zurich.

Court officials were not immediately available for comment.
