New Delhi: The decision regarding the future of Indian skipper Bhaichung Bhutia shall be taken on Monday when Mohun Bagan’s executive committee meets to decide the future course of action.
Bhaichung has a year left in his contract but has asked for a release in amicable terms. This was after Mohun Bagan had publicly distributed the copies of the show cause amongst the scribes wherein the club had questioned his commitment to the game.
In reply to the notice, the Sikkimese Sniper’s sealed letter was opened by Anjan Mitra but he refused to divulge the details.
Speaking to Goal.com, Anjan Mitra said, "The committee meeting is scheduled on the 8th of this month. We shall decide on the Bhaichung issue then."
Mohun Bagan camp wasn’t happy with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for publishing national team coach Bob Houghton’s comments where the Englishman brands the Kolkata club’s actions as ‘inane’.
"I don’t understand how the AIFF could do this. How can Houghton speak on this issue? Did they enquire from us what happened? Houghton shouldn’t comment on a club’s internal issue. Even the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) wrote about it and then stated that it wasn’t their opinion I feel that somebody has influenced Houghton to make these statements. He wouldn’t have said this," said Mitra.
Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan are to have a part of their pre-season in Kalimpong and adjoining areas towards the end of July.
"I have made all the arrangements as requested by our coach Karim Bencherifa," he added.
