Barcelona: Athletic Bilbao forward Iker Muniain scored his first goal of the Spanish league season to give the Basque side a 1-0 win at home over Valencia on Sunday. Muniain, who has struggled after his breakout season in 2011-12, came on as a second-half substitute and curled a loose ball into the corner of the net for in the 79th minute.

Valencia outplayed Bilbao at San Mames Stadium throughout the second half, with Roberto Soldado scuffing a shot over the bar from inside the six-yard box in the team's best chance in the 83rd. Bilbao stayed in 14th place after their first victory in three home games, while sixth-place Valencia wasted the chance to move into fourth.

Elsewhere, Levante were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Getafe. The hosts bossed the match and went close through strikes by Pedro Lopez and Vicente Iborra that both hit the woodwork, before Getafe goalkeeper Miguel Moya blocked David Navarro's point-blank shot in stoppage time. Atletico Madrid host Real Sociedad later, while Real Madrid visit Celta Vigo.
