Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund Makes Premier League History With Brace Against Luton Town
With his recent exploits, the 21-year-old Dane became the youngest player in Premier League history to score in six consecutive Premier League matches.

Time takes time, and it sure did for Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund who struggled to get going for the Red Devils early on in the Premier League season this year.

But since the turn of the new year, it seems as if his luck has turned as well, with the Danish striker finding his form at a time when United needed it the most.

And the cherry on top for United faithful all over is that Hojlund made Premier League history with his brace against Luton Town last night.

Hojlund capitalized from a piercing counter-attack that caught the hosts sleeping, allowing the Dane to calmly slot the ball into the back of the net in a mere 37 seconds, the fastest league goal of the season so far for United.

He then followed it up with a casual flick of the chest off a misfired chance from Alejandro Garnacho in front of goal to add to his tally in the seventh minute.

With his recent exploits, the 21-year-old Dane became the youngest player in Premier League history to score in six consecutive Premier League matches.

At 21 years 14 days old, Hojlund surpassed Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock’s previous record of 21 years 272 days old, and took the top spot.

The fact is that Hojlund’s successful outings have also proven to be fruitful for United as well, who are now five games undefeated in the Premier League, and on a four-game win streak currently after their triumph last night.

Hojlund’s career at United got off to a rocky start, as the Dane, although productive in the Red Devils’ short-lived UEFA Champions League campaign, could not find the back of the net in the Premier League through his first 14 games.

But since then, there has only been an unprecedented turnaround, with Hojlund becoming the most prolific scorer in the Premier League since the turn of the new year so far, having netted eight goals in his last eight games for United.

After their slender victory over Luton last night, Hojlund himself took to the media and stated, “I need to say thanks to my teammates and the coach because they have showed me great confidence and kept believing in me.

“I knew as well that I could score goals but of course it was annoying I didn’t score in the Premier League.”

Sixth placed United’s fourth consecutive league victory moved them within five points of fourth placed Aston Villa in the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
