Man City move hampered Spain chances: Silva
Silva has developed into one of the undisputed star players in the Premier League.

Manchester: Manchester City midfielder David Silva has voiced his dismay with the way he is being treated by national coach Vicente Del Bosque, as he feels the Spain tactician has not given him the respect he deserves following his impressive performances in England.

Silva has developed into one of the undisputed star players in the Premier League since joining Manchester City from Valencia in the summer of 2010.

However, the 25-year-old has not been getting as much playing time at international level as he would have wanted to.

"I don't think that your performances at club level have any effect on whether you play for the national side. I have played at a very high level for my club for a long time, but it's not been enough to earn a starting berth," Silva was quoted as saying by Marca.

"I feel lucky to be part of this great squad, but I also get the feeling that the coach doesn't really need me.

"When we lost against Switzerland at the World Cup, I was the only one who felt the consequences and that's not been the only time that I was the victim."

The attacking midfielder suggested that his decision to leave La Liga for England perhaps plays a role in Del Bosque's reasoning.

He added: "Whether my situation would have been different if I played for Barcelona or Real Madrid? To be honest, I sometimes get the feeling that I would be treated differently if I had joined one of those two teams."
