Egypt Manager Criticises Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Over Mohamed Salah Comments
Jurgen Klopp’s decision to discuss Mohamed Salah’s injury problems publicly has not gone down well with Egypt manager.

Mohamed Salah endured a hamstring injury during his side’s 2-2 draw with Ghana in an Africa Cup of Nations group stage fixture last week. Salah, who suffered a posterior injury, will reportedly not be able to take part in next two matches. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had stated that he expected the Egyptian international to return to the club to undergo rehab. As per a report published by Goal, Klopp was the first one to disclose that Salah would be returning to England. Klopp’s decision to discuss Salah’s injury problems publicly has not gone down well with Egypt manager Rui Vitoria, who has criticised the Liverpool boss. “We didn’t want to alarm anyone. I didn’t think it was right for Liverpool, via any intermediary, to speak about this, because we had a tremendously important game today,” Vitoria said as per Daily Star.

“Salah has always been with us. Now this game is over we will find the best solution for the treatment of the player. These are the facts. This is the situation. I want to take this opportunity to clarify things. Mohamed Salah has an injury, which we learned before this game was a longer-term injury than we first thought, so we have had to prolong the amount of time before he can play again,” Rui Vitoria added.

Egypt, however, had stated that they expected Mohamed Salah to return to the Africa Nations Cup in case the team succeeded in reaching the semi-finals. “We are hoping to catch him in the semifinals of the Africa Nations Cup in case of qualification,” the EFA had said in a statement.

Mohamed Salah and Liverpool are in top form in the Premier League this season. The forward has found the back of the net 14 times for Liverpool. The 31-year-old also has eight assists to his name in this season’s Premier League.

Despite not having Mohamed Salah in the team, Liverpool did not face much trouble in getting the better of Bournemouth in the Premier League. Portuguese striker Diogo Jota scored a brace in that game to earn a convincing victory for the Reds who beat Bournemouth 0-4. Uruguay international Darwin Nunez also netted two goals in that game for the Merseyside-based outfit.

With 48 points from 21 matches, Liverpool currently sit on top of the Premier League standings. Second-placed Manchester City are five points behind table-toppers Liverpool. Manchester City have a game in hand over Liverpool. In their next outing, the Jurgen Klopp-coached side will be up against Fulham in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.
