The 32-year-old Real Madrid midfielder was dropped from the team by coach Steve McClaren after the 2006 World Cup.

New Delhi: David Beckham took the field at England's first training session before the Euro Cup qualifiers on Monday.

Having led the English football team for more than five-and-a-half years, Beckham resigned his captaincy after England's exit from the 2006 World Cup.

The 32-year-old Real Madrid midfielder was then left out of coach Steve McClaren's squads until now.

With the withdrawal of teammate Aaron Lennon on Sunday because of a knee injury, Beckham's chances making it to the starting lineup have improved.

The 20-year-old Lennon, who plays for Tottenham left the pitch after 10 minutes of Friday's England B victory over Albania.

On Saturday a scan on the winger ruled him out of the exhibition match against Brazil on June 1 at Wembley and the European Championship qualifier at Estonia on June 6, according to the English Football Association.

Beckham was recalled to the England team this week by McClaren after being overlooked for nine matches since last year's World Cup.

After replacing Sven-Goran Eriksson at the end of the World Cup, McClaren dropped Beckham saying he didn't see a future on the team for the 32-year-old.

The training session also saw striker Michael Owen return to the fields after he played for England B last week.
