Raveena Tandon Says She's Choosy About Roles, Offers Daughter Rasha Advice: 'You Have To...' | Exclusive
In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Raveena Tandon opened up about why she likes to cherry pick roles, her advice for daughter Rasha Thadani and more.

Raveena Tandon, one of most successful actresses from the ’90s, continues to boast of a massive fan following to this day. The actress, who made her OTT debut with the crime thriller series Aranyak in 2021, is now back with Karmma Calling, a revenge drama, on Disney + Hotstar. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, the actress opened up about why she likes to cherry pick roles, her advice for her daughter Rasha Thadani who will debut on the big screen soon and her upcoming projects.

Speaking of working in Karmma Calling, she said, “I get excited about every new project that I’m doing. I get absorbed totally into what I’m doing at that moment.” Raveena also spoke about how OTT platforms have given 90s actors a level-playing field. “I feel there is so much more freedom now, to experiment, to play with the characters. I think it’s not only a great time for female actors but I think it’s a great time for the industry overall, for filmmakers as well, because there have been so many untold stories which they’ve been wanting to tell and are pulled back probably because of the restraints of the box office, the Friday collections pressure, etc,” she added.

On being asked if she’s getting more offers from down South after her stint in KGF2, she said that she’s not rushing through decisions. “Yes, but I have been choosy. I don’t want to do too much work also because I believe if, as a star, you are seen everywhere, you lose your shine. Only if a script comes my way where I’m playing something different and it’s a role that challenges me, I will say yes,” she said.

Raveena is also a part of Welcome To The Jungle, the third instalment of the Welcome franchise headlined by Akshay Kumar. Speaking of it, the actress said that shooting with the ensemble cast has been a blast. “I think it’s a big party that’s happening there! We are having a blast. Shooting that was so much fun!” she said.

Raveena’s daughter, Rasha Thadani, is rumoured to be making her debut in Bollywood with Abhishek Kapoor’s next. Talking about her advice to her, Raveena shared, “I think when you’re bringing up your children every day and everything is a new experience for you. I believe that sometimes you’ve got to let your children also fall and pick up and walk again because that’s how they will learn to be strong and that’s how they will probably recognise their own inner strength and what they are capable of. Audience is king, content is king and today, it’s the audiences that decide whether you’re here to stay or it’s time for pack up. You have to be hard working, you have to be talented, you have to be sincere with with what you’re doing and then that little bit of luck as well.”
