Angad Bedi Recalls Salman Khan's Call After His Father's Death: 'He's Really Looked...' | Exclusive
Angad Bedi, in a chat with News18 Showsha, opened up on winning gold at the 2023 International Masters Athletics Championship and support from Salman Khan.

Angad Bedi made history by clinching a big win at the 2023 International Masters Athletics Championship in Dubai. This marked his inaugural gold medal at the event, and he expressed his gratitude towards his late father, Bishan Singh Bedi, after the win.

Speaking to News18 Showsha exclusively, Angad said that it was an emotion that he cannot possibly put in words. “To stand there, with a medal around your neck, it’s very special. It was a very difficult time for me to be taking part in the games. But, my coach told me, ‘Your father will be extremely proud if you pull through.’ It was always my dream to represent India, and I’m really happy that I could do it,” he said.

Angad also credited his wife, actress Neha Dhupia, and his family for being his motivation. “In terms of sports, Neha has seen my struggle through the years. Sometimes, she would ask me, ‘Why are you putting your body through so much pain? It’s not required.’ But I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, why will I do it?’” Due credit to Neha and my family for standing by me and for letting me pursue something that I so passionately believed in. When I brought home the medal, my daughter said, ‘Papa, just one medal?’ It was a question I had no answer to!”

Angad also recalled how his Tiger Zinda Hai co-star Salman Khan called him and spoke to him at length after Bishan Singh Bedi’s demise. Taking to X, Salman had posted, “My dear brother Angad it saddens me to hear abt your dad, Wat a bowler n wat a man, we as a family have loved n respected him. God bless his soul. Now u r the head of the family. Upar wala sir dekh ke Sardari deta hai. Your dad was a legend brother. Love u (sic).”

Talking about the same, Angad said, “It was special because it was made on the spot. During Tiger Zinda Hai, he had said that there has to be a scene between Angad and me. Namit, my character in the film, and Tiger share a special bond. Ali (Abbas Zafar, director) asked him, ‘What do you want to say?’ He said, ‘Ek moment hona chahiye.’ He thought about it and came up with ‘Upar wala sar dekh ke Sardari deta hai.’ Post my father’s demise, he sent me a message and said, ‘I have put out a tweet for you. Read it and I hope it makes sense to you.’ He later called and spoke to me for 20 minutes. I told him I’ll respond to him on social media because I knew the context. It’s a beautiful bond that I share with him and his family. He has really looked out for me. I really appreciate and respect his presence in my life.”
