The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has begun the application process for the UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFS) preliminary exam 2024. According to the newly released notification, the last date to apply is March 5 by 6 pm. The exam will be conducted on May 26. Candidates may apply on the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in on or before the last date. “The number of vacancies to be filled on the results of the examination is expected to be approximately 150. The number of vacancies is liable to alteration,” the commission stated in an official notice.
UPSC IFS 2024: How to Apply For Prelims Exam?
Step 1: Start by navigating to the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in
Step 2: On the homepage, locate and click on the UPSC IFS notification link
Step 3: A PDF file containing all the relevant exam dates and details will be accessible for download.
Step 4: On another link, you will find the application form.
Step 5: Register yourself and fill out the application form.
Step 6: Pay the application fees and upload required documents. Submit.
Step 7: It is advisable to download this page and retain a hard copy for future reference.
The prelims consist of objective types of questions. Those who clear the prelims exam will next be called for the mains exam which will likely be held in November as per the commission. The mains exam consists of a written test and an interview round.
“Applications are now invited for the Preliminary Examination only. Candidates who will be declared by the Commission to have qualified for admission to the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination will have to apply again and submit on-line Detailed Application Form-I [DAF-I] along with scanned documents/certificates in support of date of birth, category {viz. SC/ST/OBC(without OBC Annexure)/EWS [Economically Weaker Sections] (with EWS Annexure)/PwBD/Ex-Serviceman} and educational qualification with required Examination Fee. Any delay in submission of DAF-I or documents in support beyond the prescribed date will not be allowed and will lead to cancellation of the candidature for the IFS,” states the official notice.
