It hasn’t been smooth sailing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first few weeks of the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team have lost their first three matches in the season so far. However, the players rejuvenated themselves ahead of their all-important clash against the Delhi Capitals (DC) by indulging in some fun outdoor activities.

Getting a six-day gap between their previous game and their upcoming game proved to be a blessing in disguise for the five-time IPL champions as they took a small trip to Jamnagar, Gujarat, to “unwind”.

In an ‘MI Daily’ episode of April 4 uploaded by Mumbai Indians on their official Instagram account, current captain Hardik Pandya and former MI skipper Rohit Sharma can be seen greeting each other with a handshake and a hug. Other players such as Kwena Maphaka, Akash Madhwal and Tilak Varma make the most of water sports activities such as jet skiing. The video was captioned, “That’s one way to unwind and have some quality team time.”

The MI players also attended a live musical event arranged for them, with Ishan Kishan and Tim David among the attendees.

Mumbai Indians have endured a horrid start to IPL 2024. Their campaign started with a game against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It looked like they would cruise to victory, but they imploded and handed a six-run win on a silver platter to GT.

Then, they visited the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad. Things went from bad to worse for the Men in Blue and Gold as SRH smashed 277 runs, the highest-ever total by any team in any IPL game in history. While they stayed in the run chase for the majority of the second innings, MI eventually lost the game by 31 runs.

Their return to the Wankhede Stadium signalled a revival, a turnaround in fortunes, but MI slumped to their third straight defeat of IPL 2024 as Rajasthan Royals swept them aside ruthlessly in a six-wicket win.

Mumbai Indians are the only team yet to win a game in IPL 2024, and Hardik Pandya and Co. will be hoping to overcome all the issues – both on-field and off the field – to register their first win when they welcome Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 7.
