South Africa Spinner Keshav Maharaj Predicted T20 World Cup 2024 Final Face-off Long Back | WATCH

South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj was right on the money when he predicted the finalists for the T20 World Cup 2024 last month. Having established himself as a dependable spinner in recent years, Keshav was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals for the Indian Premier League 2024 season. During one of the team’s promotional shoots, the South African spinner was asked whom he expected to see in the ongoing T20 World Cup final. The question resulted in a brief laughter before Keshav said, “I want to say South Africa vs India.” This conversation was recorded on May 16 and has now been shared on X by the franchise. In the post’s caption, Rajasthan wrote, “Maharaj predicted the SA vs IND final during IPL.”

Maharaj’s accurate predictions elated several fans on the internet. One of them joked that there’s a reason why he’s a King. “That’s why he is a Maharaj,” the fan wrote.

While another commented, “Perfect prediction Keshav bhai.”

Another joked, “So it’s Keshav vs Shivam”

‘Wow,’ wrote one more.

Speaking further in the same interview, Maharaj also talked about how he had made a similar prediction for the ODI World Cup in 2023. However, South Africa were unable to get past the eventual champions Australia in the semi-finals. He said, “I said that last year, and obviously we didn’t cross over the line in the semi-final, but I think it would be a nice thing.”

Maharaj also talked about how he felt that South Africa was also one of the most followed and loved teams in the world. “I think apart from India being one of the most followed and loved teams in the world, I think South Africa is equally as loved and probably one of the more well-received teams around the world, especially here in India,” the spinner concluded.

Coming back to the T20 World Cup 2024, India and South Africa sealed their places in the final on June 27. South Africa made history after beating Afghanistan by nine wickets to book their first ICC World Cup final. On the other hand, the Men in Blue shook their ghosts of 2022 to overcome England in the second semi-final.

As for Maharaj, he hasn’t had the best of individual showings for South Africa in the World Cup. However, the spinner will now have his eyes set on delivering some crucial performances for the Proteas in the ultimate game.
