The burning question that has left Indian cricket fans and former players alike puzzled and frustrated even lately has been none other than the one pertaining to the exclusion of Rinku Singh from India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Despite scoring 356 runs at an average of 89 and strike rate of 176.24 in T20Is for India, Rinku Singh does not find a place in the ICC World T20 2024 Squad, and only afforded to make the reserves list.

BCCI Chairman Ajit Agarkar took to the press today to address the questions regarding Rinku’s exclusion from the 15-member squad, stating that it was through no fault of the hard-hitter, but rather a need to figure out the apt combination for the side that led to the outcome.
“Not his fault that he missed out. He did nothing wrong, nor did Shubman Gill as well for that matter. It was all about the combination we wanted,” stated Agarkar.
We wanted to have enough options with regard to wrist spinners. Chahal, Kuldeep give us that. Then, we have Axar Patel, who is the allrounder, and then two wicketkeepers.”
“He (Rinku) is in the reserves now. So, that’s how close the decision was.”
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma later also took to the mic and re-emphasized the importance of having all-rounders such as Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya, who allow the team to be more dynamic and provide more options to choose from in-game.
“If we need Shivam Dube to bowl few overs, he will bowl. Then we have Hardik Pandya as well. All-rounders will do their role,” Rohit said.
