Delhi Capitals's Jake Fraser-McGurk smashed all the Mumbai Indians bowlers for his 27-ball 84-run blitz.

Jake Fraser-McGurk equalled his own record for the fastest fifty of the season with a 15-ball fifty, which is the third-fastest overall, during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday.

In fact, Fraser-McGurk became only the third batter in the history of T20 cricket to reach fifty in 15 or fewer balls that too twice in T20 cricket. The first two who have achieved the same feat are Andre Russell and Sunil Narine.

Fraser-McGurk started off in a brilliant manner hitting MI’s Luke Wood for two boundaries off the first two deliveries off the match and a six off the third delivery for a six. Another four followed in the fifth delivery. 19 runs came off the first over.

Fraser-McGurk then clobbered MI’s bowling lynchpin Jasprit Bumrah for a six and a four and finished then over with another four. Bumrah conceded 19 runs in his first over. Nuwan Thushara too met the same fate as JFM connected with practically every delivery and took the Sri Lankan apart with three fours in the over.

Fraser-McGurk’s new opening partner Abhishek Porel was a mere spectator to the proceedings scoring at just about run a ball. By the third over, DC had crossed the 50-run mark and Fraser-McGurk got to his fifty in just 15 deliveries, equaling his own fastest fifty record from this season itself.

The introduction of spin only meant the deliveries travelled even further as Piyush Chawla was taken for six and four. MI skipper Hardik Pandya introduced himself into the attack and Fraser-McGurk dispatched India’s T20 World Cup hopeful for two fours and two sixes!!!

In the eighth over, Chawla sent back Fraser-McGurk to the dugout. Bowling it fractionally short and on the stumps, Jake tried to slog it away over deep mid-wicket but Mohammad Nabi took a good catch in the deep.
