“JAI HIND,” Shah captioned the post.
The video has drawn a host of reactions from social media users.
One of them talked about how the BCCI official was always present for the team. He wrote, “Always there for the team.”
Another suggested that Shah should also get some credit for his contributions to the historic triumph. “Jay Hind, Jai Bharat. Jai Jay Shah, you also deserve some credit Jay sir,” he said.
Another wrote, “Thanks Jay Shah for a memorable moment.”
One user branded Shah as the 12th man for the Men in Blue. “Congratulations 12th man of India, just because of you we won the World Cup,” read the response.
“Jay Shah hats off. You are a true administrator. You make us proud and powerful country in cricket,” wrote another person.
Shah has been an integral part of the BCCI since assuming the role of BCCI’s secretary in 2019.
The BCCI secretary famously predicted Rohit and company would emerge victorious at the T20 World Cup in Barbados.
“Everybody had been waiting for my statement on the World Cup. In 2023, India did not win the World Cup after winning 10 matches straight, but we won hearts. But I want to make a promise that in 2024, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India will win the T20 World Cup in Barbados,” he had said ahead of the renaming of SCA Stadium in Rajkot as the Niranjan Shah Stadium right before the third Test between India and England earlier this year in February.
The Rohit -led India ensured Shah’s prediction came true as they beat South Africa in the final to clinch their second T20 World Cup title.
