'Great if we Can Accommodate This Trio': Ex-IND Cricketer on Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh in India's T20 WC Squad
Former Indian pacer,Venkatesh Prasad feels it would be ideal if India can accommodate Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh in their batting order for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Former Indian pacer, Venkatesh Prasad believes that India’s batting order for the upcoming T20 World Cup could be an exceptional one if they can accommodate the trio of Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh as the Men in Blue look to reclaim the title which they last won in 2007, thus ending the ICC trophy drought.

In a post on his official handle on X, Prasad wrote,” Shivam Dube for his striking ability against spinners, Surya for being the best T20 international batter and Rinku Singh for his exceptional finishing ability. It will be great if India finds a way to have these 3 in the 11 in the T20 WC. With Virat and Rohit, this will leave a spot for just a keeper batsman. Interesting to see how it pans out”.

Dube has been in fine form, especially with the bat in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Chennai Super Kings middle-order batter having played a crucial role in all three of their wins this season. Most recently, he played a supporting role to the skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s steady half-century where the left-hander took the responsibility of going after the bowlers to close in on the target. Dube scored 28 off 18 balls including a boundary and three maximums giving the hosts a certain victory.

Rinku, who is primarily a finisher for the Kolkata Knight Riders has been in good touch with the bat. While not scoring big, he has scored his runs at a decent strike rate of 150 in the season. In the international circuit, the left-hander has already proven he has what it takes to play in the middle order, especially in pressure situations. One such recent knock was against Afghanistan at Indore for the third T20I stitching a crucial partnership with Rohit Sharma and scoring 69 runs in 39 deliveries to help India tie the score which the hosts later won in a double super-over.

Suryakumar Yadav is currently the number-one ranked batter in the T20I format. He just made his return after picking up an ankle injury. However, his comeback was not ideal as he was dismissed for a duck off two balls. But it looks like he is good enough to continue and could play a crucial role in Mumbai Indians’ chances of securing a playoff spot.

The IPL will serve as a testing ground for the players who are in contention for a spot in the WC squad and will be expected to perform if they are to have a chance in nailing their ticket to the United States of America where India will play their opening game against Ireland at New York on June 5.
