Both MS Dhoni and Ashish Nehra were crucial performers for the victorious Indian cricket team at the World Cup in 2011 as they defeated Sri Lanka in the finale of the tournament. After more than a decade, Nehra has taken up a managerial role whereas Dhoni continues to make strides in franchise cricket. Dhoni even won the previous edition of IPL 2023 as the CSK captain. However, he recently handed that role over to Ruturaj Gaikwad.

CSK’s upcoming clash against GT will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In their last game, the five-time IPL winners got the better of a Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22. Having kept RCB’s top batting order humble, CSK bowlers were able to curb the visitors at just 173 runs in the first half. In the second half, Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dube produced 30-plus run knocks to seal a dominant six-wicket victory over RCB.
