The BCCI took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday (July 13) to announce the revised schedule for the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka. The three T20Is will now take place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on July 27, 28, and 30 instead of July 26, 27, and 29. The iconic R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the three ODI matches on August 2, 4, and 7, respectively, in place of August 1, 4, and 7.
The BCCI is yet to announce India’s squad for the upcoming white-ball matches in series. It has been reported that India’s new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, will meet chief selector Ajit Agarkar next week to pick the Indian squad.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who announced his retirement from T20Is last month, is expected to miss the ODI series as well, along with Virat Kohli and Jasprit Burmah. Hardik Pandya is the leading contender to replace him as the new T20I captain, whereas KL Rahul is expected to captain India in the three ODIs. The 31-year-old Karnataka batter has been a key member of India’s ODI team and led the second-string side to a series win over South Africa in December 2023.
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer is also set to get a chance to play for India in ODIs again after being rested for the South Africa series last year. The right-handed batter scored more than 500 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023 but lost his central contract after missing Ranji Trophy matches.
It will be interesting to see how many players from India’s ongoing tour of Zimbabwe manage to find a place in the squad for the upcoming six white-ball matches against the Islanders.
After failing to qualify for the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup 2024 last month, Sri Lanka would also like to come up with a big show and give something to the fans to cheer for. The Islanders will have a new head coach for the upcoming series in the form of former captain Sanath Jayasuriya.
The hosts will also have a new captain in T20Is after star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down from his position a couple of days ago.
