Andrew Flintoff to Make TV Comeback After Horrifying 2022 Top Gear Crash? Deets Inside

England cricketer-turned-presenter Andrew Flintoff is currently preparing for his TV comeback as he films a new project this week. Flintoff is working on a second series of his BBC cricket show Flintoff’s Field of Dreams. The former cricketer’s project had taken a major setback after he suffered a horror crash that put him out of action for months. During the filming of BBC’s Top Gear in December 2022, Flintoff’s open-topped three-wheel 130mph Morgan Super 3 car flipped with the England legend in it. The car had no airbags leaving the ex-cricketer with several facial injuries and broken ribs. The near-fatal crash led to BBC pausing Top Gear for the ‘foreseeable future’. However, new pictures of Flintoff have emerged on social media that make him look substantially more healed from what he looked like seven months ago in September 2023.

It was later reported by The Sun that Andrew Flintoff negotiated a £9 million settlement with BBC for two years’ loss of earnings that had resulted because of the crash. With new images of the ex-cricketer surfacing with healed injuries, a source has now told The Sun, “This will be a huge comfort to his fans because it shows he’s healing well and returning to two of his greatest passions — sport and television. It’s obvious that there is some scarring, which everyone expected, but Freddie looks to have made huge progress since he was last seen in public playing cricket. He’s clearly comfortable enough to get in front of a camera again — something which was not the case this time last year.”

One of England’s generational all-rounders, Andrew Flintoff’s impact on cricket goes beyond his stats. The ex-English cricketer is one of the iconic figures who helped the game gain popularity in the 21st century. While his numbers in the English kit might not be that impressive, Flintoff had a massive uplifting effect on his teammates and the crowd.

Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff was called up to national duty in 1998. The problems with Flintoff began early. His gigantic size and weight led to his knees and ankles taking multiple poundings from the battles on the pitch. Flintoff scored his first Test century back in 2002 in a series against New Zealand. Just when he was looking established, the all-rounder conceded another injury to miss the 2002-03 Ashes before making a recovery to feature in the ICC ODI World Cup. Flintoff’s crowning moment came in 2005 when the ex-cricketer assumed the role of vice-captain. Flintoff finished the series as the leading wicket-taker for England in the series with 24 scalps.

After the 2005 Ashes, Andrew Flintoff’s body started rebelling once again. Five years later in 2010 came the inevitable announcement of his retirement from the sport. Flintoff finished his career with over 7315 runs and 400 wickets across all three formats for England. He played 79 Tests, 141 ODIs and seven T20Is with his national squad.
