This Australian Actress Of Indian Origin To Play Silk Simtha In Her Biopic

Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati, better known by her stage name Silk Smitha, was one of the most popular actresses in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. She is also often termed the “Queen of Sensuality” and in her career, worked with all the leading actors, including superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. The actress left an indelible mark on the Indian film industry with her bold and sizzling performances. Now, according to the latest reports, a biopic will be made on actress Silk Smitha, and the name of the actress who will be portraying her role is doing rounds on social media.

Reports suggest that actress Chandrika Ravi will star in Silk Smith’s biopic. The film will be directed by Jayaram. Chandrika is an Australian actress, model and dancer of Indian origin. She was born and raised in Australia before moving to Los Angeles for her acting and modelling career. She is popularly known for her role in the 2018 horror comedy film Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu.

She was recently seen in the Telugu action drama film Veera Simha Reddy. She had a special appearance in the song Maa Bava Manobhavalu.

Earlier, director Milan Luthria’s movie The Dirty Picture was also made to pay tribute to her life, capturing the highs and lows of her journey. The film was released worldwide on December 2, 2011, on the birth anniversary of Silk Smitha in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil versions. Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, and Tusshar Kapoor played the lead roles. The film was a huge hit at the box office. It grossed Rs 117 crore.

Taking about Silk Smitha, she adopted the screen name Silk following her entry into the film industry. She entered showbiz as a supporting actress and was first noticed for her role as Silk in the 1979 Tamil film Vandichakkaram. She then never looked back and appeared in over 450 films in her career of 18 years.
