Thalapathy Vijay expressed gratitude towards his fandom and may have also dropped a hint about his political ambitions.

Thalapathy Vijay graced the success meet of his recently-released movie, Leo, which was hosted at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai yesterday. The event saw the attendance of the cast and crew of the movie. At the event, Thalapathy won the hearts of his audience with his speech. He expressed his gratitude towards his fandom and may have also dropped a hint about his political ambitions. He left his fans quite surprised when he subtly hinted about venturing into politics. At the event, when RJ Vijay asked him about 2026, Thalapathy Vijay responded by saying, “It will come after 2025.” It was after a few gentle nudges from the anchors that the Varisu actor responded by repeating a dialogue from his famous movie Bigil (2019): “Cup’u mukkiyam, Bigilu! (Winning the cup is important, Bigil).” This has generated a lot of buzz amongst fans and admirers.

Previously, there have been several reports regarding Thalapathy Vijay entering politics. As per a media report, he is likely to take a break from movies for probably two years, starting from January 2024, to prepare for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections in 2026.

In the month of July, reports suggested that Thalapathy Vijay had planned a padayatra (political tour) across Tamil Nadu. Amid these rumours, he was spotted meeting the members of Vijay Makkal Iyakkham, which further fuels the speculations about his potential political career. These reports remain unconfirmed. There are also a few reports that in 2024, he will launch his political party and participate in the elections of 2026.

Thalapathy Vijay is currently enjoying the massive success of Leo which hit the theatres on October 19. The action-packed thriller is bankrolled by SS Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy. It boasted an interesting cast ensemble featuring actors Sanjay Dutt, Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, and Mysskin in pivotal roles.

Thalapathy Vijay also has Thalapathy68 in the pipeline, which is written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. It will also star Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Vaibhav, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash and Ajay Raj.
