CV Kumar's Pizza 4 To Star Abi Hassan In The Lead Role

CV Kumar has officially announced the fourth instalment of the Pizza film series. The revelation, made this Sunday, revealed Abi Hassan as the lead actor for the upcoming fourth instalment of the Pizza franchise.

The film has a story and screenplay written by SJ Arjun, known for his work in films including Ratsasan, Mark Antony, and the upcoming Soodhu Kavvum 2. The film is set to commence shooting in January, with updates about the cast and crew yet to be revealed.

The Pizza film series launched with Karthik Subbaraj debut directorial, sharing the same title. The second instalment, Pizza 2: The Villa, was directed by Deepan Chakravarthy. The latest release, Pizza 3: The Mummy, directed by Mohan Govind, hit theatres on July 28 this year. Despite Pizza 1’s success in both commercial and critical aspects, its sequels, Pizza 2 and 3, didn’t attain the same level of success.

Speaking about the film, CV Kumar said, “Following the success of the initial three parts of Pizza, it brings me great joy to produce the fourth instalment. I hope the movie lives up to the expectations of the fans. The shooting is scheduled to commence after Pongal and will proceed from there,” he confirmed.

Actor Abi Hassan shared, “Knowing producer CV Kumar since childhood, I’m extremely happy and proud to work in his film for the first time. Selected for Pizza 4 is a delight, as he is known for promoting quality stories and young talent. The film is expected to honour the legacy of the first three instalments while offering a unique take on horror. I’m eagerly waiting for the shooting to begin.”

The first film in the series, Pizza (2012), received positive reviews and applause. It set a high standard for Tamil horror thrillers. Featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Remya Nambeesan, Aadukalam Naren, Pooja Ramachandran, and Bobby Simha, the movie marked Karthik Subbaraj’s directorial debut. The film was later remade in Bengali, Kannada, and Hindi.

The second part in the series, Pizza II: Villa, starred Ashok Selvan, Sanchita Shetty, Nassar, and Kaali Venkat. It is currently available on Disney+ Hotstar. As for Pizza 3: The Mummy, released in 2023, it is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
