As per reports, when the director of the 2003 film Dhool, Dharani, narrated the film’s story to Vijay, he refused saying that there was not much scope in it.

Thalapathy Vijay is one of the biggest names in the Indian film industry, who has given blockbusters back-to-back in a career spanning more than two decades. As the actor prepares to make his mark in politics, here are some films which were rejected by him due to various reasons.

Dhool

As per reports, when the director of the film Dhool, Dharani, narrated the film’s story to Vijay, he refused saying that there was not much scope in it. The film was then released with Vikram as the lead, in 2003.

Mudhalvan

The film’s director Shankar originally wanted Vijay to be a part of this film, but the actor turned the role down as he did not want to reportedly do any political films. It was released with Arjun Sarja as the lead in 1999.

Sandakozhi

Reports state that only after hearing the first half of the film’s story, Vijay turned down the film. Then Visha was finalized for this 2005 release, directed by Lingusamy. More reports say that when the film became a hit, Vijay called Lingusamy to congratulate him on its success.

Singam

Suriya starrer superhit Singam was initially offered to Vijay. But reportedly he had to decline the film due to unknown reasons. Directed by Hari, Singam became a superhit upon its release in 2010. It starred Suriya and Anushka Shetty.

Dheena

Dheena is one of the very first films which were directed by AR Murugadoss. He first narrated the film’s story to Vijay who rejected it for unknown reasons. It was then made with Ajith Kumar, along with Suresh Gopi and Laila. Released in 2001, the film became one of the biggest hits of the year and propelled Ajith to superstardom.
