Sensex ends at 20,725.43, down 42.45 points

Mumbai: After hitting 21,000 on the Sensex for the first time since Nov 2010, the market gave up early gains to end marginally in the red. M&M, L&T, GAIL , HDFC Bank and Tata Motors are top gainers in the Sensex.

Wipro , Coal India , TCS , Jindal Steel and BHEL were among the laggards.The Sensex closed down 42.45 points at 20725.43, and the Nifty ended at 6164.35, down 14.00 points. About 1177 shares advanced, 1289 shares declined, and 186 shares were unchanged.
