New Delhi: Government said National Security Advisor M K Narayanan did not give any specific name while referring to reported incidents of terror outfits raising funds in stock markets during his address in Munich in February this year.
Narayanan, at the international conference, had mentioned about reports of isolated incidents of terrorist outfits manipulating stock markets to raise funds for their operations, Chidambaram said adding no specific names were given by him.
To queries on the matter raised by BJP member S S Ahluwalia and Dinesh Trivedi (Trinamool Congress) during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister said the government had no hesitation in examining the issue if they provided specific names involved in any such operation.
Chidambaram said the SEBI, the RBI and other agencies were keeping a close watch on such illegal activities. Besides, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act was aimed at preventing such activities, he said.
Abu Asim Azmi (SP) sought to know whether banks in Azamgarh and Sivan were monitoring the money deposited by Indian emigrants to check for any illegal fund. The Minister said no such monitoring was being done there.
