New Delhi: The market shown positive move on Wednesday with higher level of buying in pharma, IT and auto stocks.
The Sensex closed up 72.68 points or 0.52 per cent at 14014.92, and the Nifty up 16.65 points or 0.42 per cent at 4024.05.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,932.38 up 61 points. About 1663 shares have advanced, 923 shares declined, and 58 shares are unchanged.
The BSE Bankex was up 0.3 per cent at 7,143.36. Canara Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Bank of Baroda, UTI Bank, IOB, SBI moved upwards.
The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 0.2 per cent at 9,210.53. Aban Offshore, KEC Infrastruct, Praj Industries, SKF India, Carborundum closed higher.
The BSE Health Care Index was up 1.4 per cent at 3,874.10. Pfizer, Matrix Lab, Ranbaxy Labs, Cipla, Aurobindo Pharm closed higher.
The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,722.30 up 0.5 per cent. Bajaj Auto, Asahi India, Hind Motors, Tube Investment, Tata Motors surged.
The BSE Metal Index closed flat at 9,123.59. Guj NRE Coke, Welspun Guj, Sesa Goa, JindalStainles, Mah Seamless advanced higher.
The BSE IT Index gained 1.5 per cent at 5,450.51. Mphasis, Moser Baer, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Satyam advanced.
The BSE FMCG Index lost 0.7 per cent at 1,927.10 and BSE Oil and Gas Index closed flat at 6,238.26.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 8141.48 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 25222.85 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4287.53 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 37651.86 crore.
