TN Company Becomes First In India To Offer LPG Retrofit Kits For BS4 Two-Wheelers
KR Fuels has received approval to sell LPG conversion kits for two-wheelers. The company is now the first in the Auto LPG industry to acquire this certification.

KR Fuels, based in Tamil Nadu, has become the first company in the auto LPG market to receive permission for its LPG conversion kits for two-wheelers.

The company has been certified to install LPG retrofitment kits on BS4-compliant scooters, resulting in cheaper running costs and fewer emissions from the two-wheeler.

KR Fuels’ LPG retrofitment kit is available weeks before Bajaj Auto launches the world’s first CNG bike. As per reports, the LPG conversion kit costs between Rs 9,500 and Rs 10,500, with a total cost of roughly Rs 15,500 (including fitment charges).

At its plant in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, KR Fuels has manufactured LPG conversion kits for scooters. The kit includes injectors, wiring harnesses, an ECU (Electronic Control Unit), and a 5-liter tank that is all made in-house. Now that the company has obtained all necessary regulatory authorizations and certificates, it is prepared to distribute these conversion kits throughout India.

Reports also state that KR Fuels has started manufacturing the new LPG conversion kits, and the company believes an initial batch of 8,000 tanks is ready for distribution. Across Tamil Nadu, the company operates 73 auto LPG outlets and 7 retrofitting centres. It is unclear at this time whether the brand intends to expand into other states.

“We are thrilled to witness KR Fuels receiving approval for two-wheelers Auto LPG retrofitment on BS4 vehicles,” Suyash Gupta, Director General, Indian Auto LPG Coalition said as quoted by CNBC TV18.

“This significant milestone not only underscores the potential of Auto LPG as a cleaner, greener alternative to conventional fuels but also represents a crucial step towards reducing vehicular emissions across India. With over 25 million two-wheelers in Tamil Nadu alone, the impact on air quality could be substantial,” Gupta added. He also requested the government to decrease the GST on these kits from 28 per cent to 5 per cent to make them more affordable to customers and to assist the Make in India drive.
