Tata Motors has finally taken the wraps off its latest model for 2024 – the Punch EV.
The vehicle is the second electric SUV in the brand’s lineup. Besides this, it marks the homegrown automaker’s fourth venture into all-electric cars.
Interested buyers can now book the Punch EV at Tata’s dedicated EV outlets, select standard showrooms, or through their online platform for just Rs 21,000.
The Punch EV is the maiden model built on the Gen 2 EV architecture, also known as acti.ev by Tata, as reported by AutoCar. Resembling a scaled-down version of the Nexon EV, it showcases a refreshed grille and bumper design.
In terms of design, the vehcile features a full-width light bar on the bonnet, a split headlamp setup similar to the Nexon EV, and a front charging socket – a first for Tata EVs. The rear boasts a Y-shaped brake light setup, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a dual-tone bumper design. It also sports new 16-inch alloys with disc brakes on all wheels, distinguishing it from the ICE Punch.
Technical specifics of the Punch EV haven’t been fully disclosed yet. However, it is likely to be offered in two variants – Standard and Long Range – with expected battery packs of 25kWh and 35kWh, respectively. These could provide a range of 300km to 600km depending on the model and battery capacity.
The cabin of the Punch EV boasts a plethora of features. These include a layered dashboard design, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a digital instrument cluster, and an illuminated two-spoke steering wheel. The top variant includes an array of premium features such as a 360-degree camera, connected car tech, ventilated seats, and more.
Safety features of the Punch EV comprise six airbags, ABS, ESC, blind view monitor, ISOFIX mounts, and an SOS function.
The Punch EV offers five trims for the standard version and three for the Long Range. Positioned between the Nexon EV MR and Tiago EV MR, prices are expected to range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
This new offering from Tata Motors competes directly with the Citroen eC3, promising an exciting addition to the electric vehicle segment.
