Having beaten South Africa in the semi-finals, the Aussies completed their reverse sweep into the ultimate game of the competition. They will next be facing India at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19. While several cricketers and analysts are busy with the match flow speculations, Cummins seems to be happy and excited about playing in the final in front of a packed crowd. He uploaded a picture of the venue in a story on Instagram while writing, “Tomorrow (heart-eyed emoji)”. He followed up with a second Instagram Story showing the crowd who were also waiting for the final clash. In that story, he wrote, “Everyone excited for Tomorrow!”

Australia took on South Africa at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on November 16. Having lost to the African side once already in the group stage, the Aussies built early pressure in the playoff game. They kept South Africa humble, scalping four wickets in the first 12 overs. David Miller was able to stabilise the innings for his side by smashing 101 runs in 116 balls. The veteran batter hit eight boundaries and five sixes in the innings. Despite the impressive knock, the Aussies were able to curb South Africa at a mere total of just 212 runs. Pat Cummins and his pacing compatriot Mitchell Starc did most of the heavy lifting as the duo combined for six wickets. In the second innings, Travis Head and David Warner led the chase for the Aussies. They kept losing wickets in frequent intervals but remained composed throughout the second half. It was once again down to the duo of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins to deliver the win for their side. Both cricketers remained unbeaten and scored a joint-thirty runs to seal a three-wicket victory for their side.
Australia had a slow start to their campaign for international glory in the 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup. Having conceded back-to-back losses against India and South Africa, doubts were in the air if the five-time champions would be able to make it to the playoffs. However, the Australians managed to gather themselves together and won seven games on the trot in the group stage. They took down some of the biggest teams in the competition including the likes of New Zealand and Pakistan and were able to secure the third position on the World Cup table to make the knockout phase. All that now remains between them and a sixth World Cup crown is a hungry-looking Team India.
