'Working on My Skills on Being Consistent': Injured Prasidh Krishna Looks to Improve His Skills

Team India pacer Prasidh Krishna has asserted that he is working on his skills to improve his consistency. Krishna, who made his Test debut on the South Africa tour, sustained a quadriceps injury during a Ranji Trophy match playing for Karnataka.

Prasidh was also part of the ODI World Cup 2023 squad after missing out on the action for nearly a year owing to a lumbar stress fracture. He returned to action with the Ireland tour last year and was picked in the ODI World Cup squad after Hardik Pandya was ruled, but he didn’t get a chance to play in the showpiece event.

However, his effort in the Test series against the Proteas was less than satisfactory after plucking just two wickets from as many matches, averaging 65. His economy too stood at 4.64.

Krishna is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy.

“I am working on my skills on being consistent and doing better for the side,” Prasidh told PTI on the sidelines of a promotional event.

Asked what are the areas he would be working on as he already is naturally quick and gets disconcerting bounce off the track, he replied: “Pace is one of those things I will be working on. With confidence and rhythm, all of those (pace) things increase. But then what we need is to bowl in a particular way consistently and stick to the tactics of the team. That’s more important.”

Krishna also missed out on the first two Tests against England due to a quadriceps injury. The BCCI didn’t mention whether Krishna was dropped or ruled out due to his left quadriceps injury.

The competition to get a senior national team breakthrough is immense and it only helps an individual to grow as a player.

“Every time someone gets into the team you know he has gone through the grind, through the hard competition and all of that and you are getting the best of the crop. So I think it is great for all individual athletes to fight the competition there is and get a place in the team.”
