Godzilla is a fictional monster based on a popular film franchise of the same name.

Godzilla has been dominating the imagination of sci-fi fans around the world for decades now. The dinosaur-like creature is known for its massive size and fire breathing power. Over the years there have been many additions to the backstory and physical properties of this fictional monster. However, all Godzilla franchise movies show the underwater animal emerging from the deep sea before wreaking havoc. Now a theory about Godzilla is going viral that wonders about the length of Godzilla’s legs. As per the 2019 film Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla is 394 feet tall. A 2019 Facebook post attempts to understand how Godzilla ‘walks’ or stands in the middle of the ocean when the average depth of the ocean is 3,682 meters (12,080 feet).

In a post, titled, ‘The Problem with Godzilla’, a Facebook user shared several scenarios that might allow the monster to move over the seabed. As per one graphic, Godzilla supports itself over a large pile of garbage or wears tall platform heels. Another theory suggests that Godzilla floats over a whale or a ‘nimbus’ cloud. This post has gathered over 48,000 likes and over 20,000 comments with people weighing in their ideas about what allows Godzilla to walk in the middle of the sea.

A person guessed, “Maybe he’s pedaling hard underwater like ducks.” Another assumed, “Maybe Godzilla had practiced the Standing on water From Naruto which requires Power Manipulation, that is, creating enough chakra to cover his feet palms to keep him afloat. It doesn’t require shape nor natural manipulation.”

A user wrote, “You can also float in a swimming pool without touching the pool floor.. So what’s the problem for a giant godzilla that is good with swimming? Hahaha.” Someone speculated, “I heard stories that the old fisherman can float up to their waistline by paddling their legs. That’s the only explanation I accept for Godzilla.”

A Facebook user sarcastically remarked, “I am cheerfully delighted and flabbergasted with enormous gratification and appreciation for dispensing such an awesome post. In other words, wow cool post thanks for sharing.”

Many people also chided the post for overthinking about an imaginary monster. Making this point, a Facebook user wrote, “Why so serious? If you really want to use SENSE to watch movies, then how possible is it for the existence of Godzilla???!!! Lol…”
