The Wonderfall, a digital waterfall spanning four storeys, stands as a transformative feature enhancing the travel experience for the passengers passing through the bustling international hub.

Singapore’s Changi Airport revealed the new northern wing of Terminal 2 in November of the previous year, concluding its three-and-a-half-year transformation and expansion. A highlight of the new design is the picturesque Wonderfall, a four-storey digital waterfall gracefully positioned between two lush gardens. This addition aims to elevate the travel experience for the multitude passing through the bustling international hub.

The Wonderfall located in the departure hall offers a scenic respite post-check-in. The tranquil cascades navigate through vibrant vertical gardens flanking both sides of the curved LED screen. Comprising three massive flat segments, it is meticulously designed to provide travellers with optimal views. Canadian artist Jean-Michel Blais crafted this captivating visual experience. As per a report by CNN, Changi Airport was rated the world’s greatest airport in the 2023 Skytrax Airport Awards. The original terminal building has been expanded by approximately 21,000 square metres (2,26,000 square feet), giving greater infrastructure, new systems, and increased shopping and dining options. Moreover, as per the report, in keeping with the nature theme, visitors to the departure transit area can see the new Dreamscape garden, which has a variety of flora brought to life by a “digital sky” that changes colours according to the time of day.

Meanwhile, enthusiasts of historical travel will enjoy Flap Pix, an art installation inspired by the old mechanical split-flap flight information screens that were previously common in airports. According to Changi, 1,080 split flaps were recycled to make it. Terminal 2 houses the Enchanted Garden, a work of art and technology that features motion-sensor flowers that react to visitors’ motions.

Apart from that, for those who enjoy a little bit of thrill, Terminal 3 has The Slide@T3, a massive slide that offers an exciting thrill to the journey. Nature lovers will be delighted by Terminal 3’s Butterfly Garden. Also, Terminal 1 has the Social Tree, which serves as a digital community hub where passengers may post photographs and messages.

New dining options after the massive renovation include the Gourmet Garden, which offers views of the airport’s apron, as well as Singaporean specialities including Satay Club by Harry’s and Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice. According to a statement from the airport, the T2 extension project, which began in January 2020, increases Changi’s passenger capacity by 5 million, bringing its total handling capacity to 95 million per year.
