Watch: Ex-Navy Man Skydives From 10,000 Feet With 'Jai Shri Ram' Flag
Rajkumar Balakrishnan took voluntary retirement from the Navy in 2010 to pursue skydiving.

A former Navy officer recently marked the consecration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya by skydiving from a height of 10,000 feet in Thailand. What made this skydiving stint special was that during his jump he unfurled a flag that had the image of the new temple and the slogan “Jai Shri Ram” written on it. The video of Balakrishnan’s tribute to the Ram Temple is being widely circulated online. The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya opened in a grand ceremony on January 22. The temple was built on the former site of the 460-year-old Babri Masjid which was demolished in 1992.

Balakrishnan took voluntary retirement from the Navy in 2010 to pursue skydiving and promote the adventure sport in India. The former Naval officer hails from the Theni District of Tamil Nadu. He currently works as a skydiving analyst and skydiving instructor for sports and military personnel. As per India TV News, he is the “only Indian skydiver who has completed 13000 more jumps and 92 hours free fall time”. In 2015, he was awarded the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award for his achievements in sports. Balakrishnan is also the first Indian safety and training advisor certificate from the United States Parachute Association.

This is not the only video of skydiving that has fascinated the netizens in recent years. In December last year, a video went viral that showed a woman doing graceful stunts while skydiving. The video appears as though the skydiver is walking in the air. Commenting on it, an X user wrote, “Incredible job! So interesting and impressive!” Another person said, “A fantastic parachute jump, it looks like he’s walking in mid-air.”

The video featured Maja Kuczynska, a 23-year-old skydiver. She initially shared this video on August 24 on her Instagram with the caption, “Giving the people what they want. Everyone seems to really love walking in the sky. Standing straight up is a pretty basic skydiving position. To make it look like you’re walking you just wiggle your feet back and forth. I tried climbing some stairs for you guys but it doesn’t look that great. Also please don’t crucify me for that terrible mana.”
