A piece of heritage from her mother’s closet—a 35-year-old Gharchola saree.

Sharing glimpses of her ensemble on Instagram, Sonam expressed gratitude to her mother for lending her the timeless saree and blouse. She wrote, “Wearing my mom’s 35-year-old Gharchola. Thanks, Mama, for lending me this saree and blouse. I love raiding your closet. Do you know what a Gharchola is and the significance of it? I would love to know your answers in the comments section.”

The Gharchola saree adorned by Sonam featured a striking red hue, adorned with intricate weave patterns, white bandhani designs, and mirror embellishments. She draped the saree in the traditional Gujarati style, with the pallu elegantly cascading down the front. Complementing the saree was a matching red blouse adorned with gold dori embroidery, puff-styled shoulders, and mirror work.

Sonam’s overall appearance was elevated by her exquisite accessories and flawless makeup choices. Adorned in gold and Kundan jewellery, which included a maang tika, earrings, and a choker necklace, she exuded grace and sophistication. Under the skillful hands of makeup artist Namrata Soni, her features were accentuated with feathered brows, smoky eye shadow, and nude mauve lips. Completing her ensemble, she elegantly styled her hair in a half pleat, allowing the remaining locks to cascade freely, while the addition of a gorgeous gajra provided the perfect finishing touch.

Fans and followers of the actress inundated the comments section with adoration and admiration for her breathtaking appearance. A user wrote, “Your mom has the best taste in clothes and jewels,” while another stated, “If I am not wrong, it refers to an ‘outfit’ (mostly a Bandhani saree) gifted to a bride for her ‘new home’ (after marriage). My wedding had mixed rituals to honour both sides of the family, and I wore a Ghar Chola over my shoulders during pheras. And you look beautiful in this Sonam.”

Gharchola sarees are a vital part of weddings in Gujarat. They’re beautifully crafted by weavers from Rajasthan and Gujarat, featuring striking golden and red colors, intricate grid patterns, and stunning bandhani designs.
