CM Punk Shares Interesting Update Amid Rumours of Return to WWE
CM Punk has not been a part of the WWE ever since his ugly exit from the company back in 2014 but has been touted for a return in the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Former WWE superstar CM Punk reacted and replied to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) superstar Danhausen on Instagram amid WWE return rumours. CM Punk has not been a part of the WWE ever since his ugly exit from the company back in 2014 but has been touted for a return in the Survivor Series pay-per-view. He was also fired from AEW earlier this year but it seems like wrestling fans still haven’t forgotten their superstar.

Despite his absence from live television for months, Danhausen reported on Instagram that Punk’s merchandise sales are still in the top 10 for AEW. This resulted in CM Punk responding to the statistic on his Instagram story stating, “Meeting with Phil Zacko and Jack Tunney at the China club, brother.”

CM Punk’s rivalry with the WWE is a long-standing one. Towards the end of his WWE career, the Chicago-born wrestler had several altercations with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon regarding his contract, ultimately leading to his departure in 2014. Punk next returned to the wrestling scene back in 2021 to AEW following an absence of seven years. He recently appeared on AEW’s second episode of Rampage at the sold-out United Center in Chicago on a rumour that the wrestler would be making a return. However, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that CM Punk had been fired from the company ahead of the September 2 episode of Collison. The decision to terminate the wrestler’s contract was made after an internal investigation of an incident between Punk and fellow AEW wrestler Jack Perry.

The investigation revealed that the duo had gotten into a physical fight backstage during their pay-per-view show at the Wembley Stadium in London. An official statement was made on X, quoted by ESPN, that read, “Following the investigation, the AEW Discipline Committee met and later convened with outside counsel before making a unanimous recommendation to [AEW owner Tony] Khan that CM Punk be terminated with cause.”

After CM Punk’s termination from the AEW, a former WWE superstar EC3 stated that he would love to see the wrestler compete in the NWA. EC3 is currently the World Heavyweight Champion in the NWA and according to him, CM Punk’s arrival to the organisation could prove to be lucrative for the company. While speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s UnSKripted show, EC3 made claims that the controversial star coming to the NWA could be a potential game-changer. Speaking in the interview, quoted by Sportskeeda, he said, “To have him [Punk] come in would be a game-changer, and I think our locker room has a more professional atmosphere sometimes. So, I don’t think the shenanigans [and] tomfooleries of the intertwining’s and dramatics would take place as much as people striving to be the best versions of themselves. And the best version of anybody is EC3 as the Worlds Heavyweight Champion.”
