2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Fuel Efficiency Figures Revealed
Kia reveals fuel efficiency for Sonet facelift with diverse powertrain options. The updated model features design and tech upgrades, ensuring safety with ADAS.

Kia Motors has unveiled the fuel efficiency figures for the highly anticipated Sonet facelift just days before its official price announcement.

The updated model offers a range of engine and gearbox options, including the reintroduction of the diesel manual powertrain.

While the diesel manual’s mileage is yet to be disclosed due to ongoing certification processes, the ARAI-rated figures for the other powertrain options provide insight into the Sonet’s efficiency in the compact SUV segment, as reported by Autocar.

The Sonet equipped with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) boasts an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 19.2 kilometres per litre (kpl).

The diesel variant with Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) achieves an impressive 22.3 kpl, emphasising the efficiency of the diesel powertrain.

Other Powertrain Options:

  • 1.2-litre Petrol 5-speed MT: 18.83 kpl
  • 1.0-litre Petrol 6-speed iMT: 18.70 kpl
  • 1.5-litre Diesel 6-speed AT: 18.60 kpl
  • 1.5-litre Diesel 6-speed MT: Figures to be announced (TBA)

Notably, the Sonet’s 1.5-litre diesel engine, producing 116 bhp, showcases a marginal decrease in fuel efficiency compared to the outgoing model.

The updated Sonet is set to feature a trio of powertrain choices. It includes a 1.2-litre petrol engine exclusively paired with a manual transmission, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine offering the flexibility of being matched with either an Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) or a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), and a 1.5-litre diesel engine providing options for a Torque Converter Automatic (AT), Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), or the traditional manual transmission.

The Sonet facelift marks a significant update since its debut in 2020, featuring a refreshed design with all-LED lighting, new headlamps, a redesigned bumper, and an updated alloy wheel design.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle offers a host of enhancements, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system of the same size, and ambient LED lighting. The inclusion of an electric sunroof adds to the overall driving experience.

In terms of safety, the Sonet continues to impress with standard features such as six airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and electronic stability control.

Furthermore, the Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) options include forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, and more, enhancing the overall safety profile of the compact SUV.
