The problem of air pollution is relatively new in Mumbai. However, it only seems to get worse with each passing day. Mumbai’s air quality was worse than that of Delhi. Amid these concerns, a video has surfaced on social media and massively angered people. In the video, people can be seen bursting crackers at Mumbai’s Kemps Corner. Uploaded on Reddit, the video shows people parking their vehicles until the fireworks ceased. This is because the area has become all smoky and dull.

Also, in the video, you can see poor visibility due to the pollution caused by these crackers. “City air quality RIP,” wrote the anonymous user while uploading the video on Reddit.

“With Diwali approaching, we need to brace ourselves for a serious upheaval. Many of us maybe generally healthy and can wade through the next few months but I can’t imagine people w respiratory issues and their plight. Why can’t we have a legal requirement that for every xyz area of construction , x number of trees need to be planted WITHIN city limits to compensate for the sacrifice of air quality? This is just a shot in the dark but i’m sure there are people much smarter than me who can suggest much better solutions to tackle this issue. Thoughts ?” the person wrote further.

“Weddings, Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, New Year’s Eve…There are like a billion festivals and events, and every one of them involves burning things, lighting firecrackers, drowning stuff in the river and occupying the streets. Then there are factories running with little to no pollution regulations,” commented a Reddit user. Another person wrote, “Suicidal behaviour. Really unfortunate, in about 10-15 years each and every citizen is going to remember this, not in a good way though.”
