Bengaluru to Clamp Strict Covid Norms After Aug 15, Weekend Curfew To Be Imposed if TPR Goes Above 2%
The current test positivity rate in Bengaluru is 0.62%. The district has been reporting around 400 cases for the last 40 days.

Bengaluru could see stringent measures in place after August 15 to prevent a possible third wave of Covid19. The decision was announced after a meeting of officials of the civic body and revenue minister R Ashok to review Covid situation in the city.

“There won’t be any change to the existing relaxations until August 15. Post that, there could be looking at the number of cases being reported in the city. Imposing of weekend curfew in Bengaluru is being discussed if the positivity rate goes above 2%,” said R Ashok who’s also the minister in-charge of Bangalore.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike will also conduct a door-to-door health checkup in Bengaluru to understand the extent of vaccination coverage in the city.

On a trial basis, 2 teams per constituency will be sent for door-to-door health check up along with the doctors. For this purpose, now more doctors will be taken for this initiative. To maintain the records of the questions and answers asked in every house, a system will be put in place and along with this, citizens will be given awareness materials about this health check up.

The doctors will check the health status of the family members along with vaccination details, Covid systems and if there are any symptoms found, immediate testing will also be done.

Every constituency also has on call duty doctors who will attend to the patients. Along with that, people who are tested positive will also be given medical kits and from now on we will also provide doctors numbers and helpline.

There will also be changes in terms of testing criteria. If three cases are reported from an apartment, entire apartment residents would be tested, floor would be sealed down and common areas like gym, swimming pools would be shut down when the measures are in place.

Bommanahalli and Mahadevapura zones in Bengaluru are reporting high cases and the city has 159 active micro containment zones at present.
