UK University Student, Undergoing Appendix Operation, Gives Birth To Baby Boy
The 21-year-old Niamh Hearn admitted that she smoked and drank almost every night during her pregnancy.

A 21-year-old university student, Niamh Hearn, went to the hospital for what she thought was a routine appendix operation but left with an unexpected addition to her life – a newborn baby. Niamh, who was pursuing a foundation degree in drama at University Centre Leeds, claims she had no inkling about her pregnancy and was astonished when doctors informed her that she was in labour.

Expressing her disbelief, Niamh mentioned that she had attributed any changes in her body to simply “getting a bit fat” due to regular drinking during her university days. The incident, which occurred in 2022, has recently gained viral attention. Niamh gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Liam, arriving two weeks earlier than expected and weighing six pounds.

Niamh, now 21, confessed to smoking and drinking almost every night throughout her pregnancy, even attending a three-day festival just two weeks before giving birth. Despite her initial shock and worry about the potential harm caused by her lifestyle choices, doctors reassured her that Liam was born perfectly healthy.

Reflecting on her habits during pregnancy, Niamh admitted, “It was such a relief hearing he was healthy. I was drinking pretty much every night at uni. We were going out at like 6 pm and not getting back until 2 am, drinking all night,” as shared with media outlet The Sun. Notably, she had ended her relationship with the baby’s father four months before Liam’s arrival, whom she had met at a party.

Photos of Niamh during her pregnancy, showcasing a seemingly flat stomach even at six months, have gone viral. Niamh recounted waking up one morning with ‘crippling’ stomach pain, initially thinking it was related to her period. Concerned, she reached out to her Nanna, who advised her to call 111. Initially suspected as appendicitis, the situation took an unexpected turn.

Grateful for the support of her family, Niamh emphasised the importance of their assistance throughout the unexpected journey. Now 17 months old, Liam serves as a living testament to the surprising twists life can take.
