'Viru, Thigh Pad Diya Kya Pehla Four?': Surprised Rohit Sharma Stuck on 0 After Umpire Denies Him Boundary; Watch
Rohit Sharma seemed to have got off the mark with a four off the second ball of India innings but the umpire gave it as four leg-byes

Rohit Sharma was eager to get off the mark in the third T20I between India and Afghanistan in Bengaluru on Wednesday after having recorded back-to-back ducks in the previous two contests of the series.

And the India captain seemed to have opened his account off the second delivery of the match, that too with a fine glance for a boundary.

The on-field umpire Virender Sharma failed to spot that Rohit had indeed got some bat on the ball and thus signaled it as four leg-byes.

Later in the over, Rohit attempted a pull shot but this time failed to get any bat on the ball which deflected off his thigh pad for four leg byes to fine leg region.

Meanwhile, Rohit was under the impression that he’s open his account.

Upon realising he’s still on 0, Rohit asked Virender if he had indeed given up his first four as leg-byes.

Expectedly, the 36-year-old wasn’t impressed and he reminded the official he’s already recorded two zeroes.

Rohit eventually got off the mark off the seventh delivery he faced with a single and must have heaved a sigh of relief.

And the the opener ended up hitting a half-century, the first time he’s hit the milestone in a T20I since October 2022.

India made a horror of a start after opting to bat first in the third T20I at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, losing four wickets inside the first five overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first to be dismissed becoming Fareed Ahmed’s first victim of the night. Fareed then landed a body blow as he got rid of Virat Kohli for a golden duck off the very next delivery.

The in-form Shivam Dube, who struck back-to-back fifties in the series, managed just 1 before falling to Azmatullah Omarzai and then Fareed landed another strike in Sanju Samson who also fell for a first-ball duck, leaving India at 22/4.

The pair of Rohit and Rinku Singh then joined forces to repair the extensive damage.
